Sneezes

Well, Phil returned from Melbourne on Thursday night complete with a cold and a couple of secondary bacterial infections. And promptly passed them on to us. Thanks dear! I woke up last night with a sore throat and headache. Jamie is sneezing in his sleep and snuffling away, but (touchwood) seems to be quite happy at the moment. I had all these fun activities lined up for us this week - two parents' groups, a visit to a girlfriend's place, a visit into my work. Grrr. I guess that we will be lying low instead.

I hope Jamie's cold doesn't get any worse, coz I have no idea what to do with a three month old with a cold. If anyone has any good tips, I'd love to hear from you. Otherwise, I'll be ringing the Child and Youth Health hotline. I don't even own baby panadol! Can I give him vitamin C?

I caught up with a good friend of mine, Shelley, on the weekend. She was down in Adelaide for a wedding and we had a coffee yesterday. Geez, I miss her. She and I are great friends and used to do everything together when we were in our twenties. We were gym buddies, aerobics junkies, nightclub goers, dinner organisers. Ah, those were the days. I miss them. I miss her. Oh well, she's only a phone call away. Actually, she has been my own personal breastfeeding counsellor, while I've been having difficulties (she's a Breastfeeding Association counsellor).

Shel couldn't believe how much Jamie has grown since she saw him, a couple of weeks after he was born. He's looking like a little boy now. Here's a photo I took last week, out in the back yard.

Love those cute little feet :)

Let me know about your remedies for colds and babies, OK?

Definately get yourself some baby panadol in case he develops a temp. I wouldn't give any vitamin c as you can't regulate the dose for his size. If his breathing gets rougher, it is also handy to have a vaporiser but not essential. Not much more you can do but keep a close eye on him that it doesn't get worse.

Gee...I can't remember if Jamie's too young for panadol or demazin!!! I do know that I had a vaporizer in my kids rooms when they were babies. What a bummer, I know how you feel though, my throat is killing me atm.

Just keep breastfeeding him and keep an eye on his temperature. It might handy to keep a bottle of children's panadol or nurofen in the cupboard.

He looks so chubby in the photo - look at him -hasn't he just grown.

Hallo Kathie!

Wow, I'd love to know what Britta said! LOL :)

Baby panadol is fine from one month old. I didn't like giving my babies 'drugs', but we were told by our doctor that it won't do any harm, and if in doubt give it to him. I figure, if I feel rotton, I'd like panadol. We give it to our bubs often. Nurofen is OK from 6 months.

Keep breastfeeding - flush it out of him! And if he's congested I alway use a vaporiser - Ethan has it on now.

If you are worried go to your doctor, but in my experience they've always just told me it's viral, and to give him panadol and lots of fluids. Hopefully he'll get rid of it fast.

I am so jelous that you have your own BF expert! I could have done with one of those LOL.

Hugs and smooches for Jamie xoxoxo

Oh, also if he's really congested and can't really feed because of it, you can get peadiatrix nasel drops at the pharmacy. Otravin or Drixine and two I've used. It's recomended that you only use them for a few days, and only when they are really blocked up and yucky. They work a treat!

Hey Kathie - I swear by one of those plug in steam vaporisors in their bedroom when they are sleeping. They can find it hard to sleep and settle with colds but all mine were HEAPS better with a vaporisor going - worked wonders..you can get them at Chemists for about $30 I think they are - I have a Vicks steam vaporisor. So thats my tip - worked for me...good luck...hope yours and Jamie's colds dont get worse.

They ARE gorgeous little feet. There is nothing cuter in my book, than a baby's feet!! :)

It sounds like you are completely wrapped up in being a Mum. It's hard sometimes, but really it's the best feeling in the world isn't it??!!
