We hit the jackpot on our walk this afternoon. Two trains and two garbage trucks (well, I think it was the same one that we saw twice, but we'll call it two for arguments sake). And I couldn't help thinking, since when did I get so into trains and trucks? Because each time we saw one, I'd act like an idiot: "Look Jamie, a TRAAAAIN!!!!!! Wow!!!!! Look at that TRAAAAIN!!!! Did you see that? A TRAAAAIN!!!!!" Like it was the best thing that had ever happened to us. And I thought, so this is the start of stereotyping. If I had a girl, do you think I'd be jumping around like one of the Wiggles on speed over a garbage truck? No.
Thanks to everyone who's commented on my layouts. Yes, I am grateful that I discovered scrapbooking *before* I became pregnant and had Jamie. I am grateful that I have learnt to take lots of photos and to keep a journal. Because they grow up so quickly.
I was stunned to see Jamie start to push himself off his stomach with his arms today. To dothat lovely little yoga stretch. He can nearly sit without support too, he just topples forwards still. And this morning I saw him examining the Cookie Monster on his play gym intently. Holding it with both hands, moving it from side to side, swivelling it around to examine the back. Really looking. Not just batting it with a paw any longer. They grow up so quickly.
See ya

OMG kathie.....matt was so into trains when he was little and i used to do the whole "pick him up out of the pram so he could see the trains go by" thing.
he still has his thomas the tank books and models in his wardrobe (shhhh don't tell anyone) and occasionally i find he has slipped his thomas the tank engine pillow case onto one of his pillows.
and yep.....my baby boy will be 18 in two months time.....lol
give that little man of yours a cuddle from me....cause my baby doesn't much need cuddles from his mum anymore *sob*
have a great weekend
xo
Wait till he's a little older and then it moves onto Ninja turtles, dinosaurs, and then Footy!
KAthie........It seems so long ago when my boys were little that it is lovely to reflect on these special moments and milestones by reading your blog.I do remember how exciting it was when they first turned over and pushed themselves up on their arms.
It's great that you are able to see all these milestones for yourself with JAMIE.He sure has one caring and observant mummy!

oh yes! I have heard myself get very 'over excited' when we.! see a train or a 'bozer' Denver is obsessed with trains. Thomas is the most important in our house! Poor mazzie though, she already points and says 'tonas' no time for stereotyping here. Denver gets all the say and Mazzie has to be interested in 'Tonas' and 'Bob'!
Lol @ the trains - its such a boy thing hey, but yes, its hard not to get caught up in the stereotyping of it all....
They sure do grow up so quickly! Before I know it I'll have a 5-month old too - I'm sure the next 6 months will go that fast!!

I had to giggle about this post, I remember feeling exactly the same way when Caleb was this age - now Im going through it all again!!! Welcome to the sometimes weird world of being a mum to boys!!! enjoy this innocence and wonder though, it soon turns to mischief!!

i don't think it is a boy thing. abby is a total girly girl but she loves looking out the window when our garbage trucks drive by and she loves looking at the trains when we go pick up colin from the train station. loves the train rides in the shopping centres too.
