I spent a lovely day at Kate's today. Nic and Mel were there too and we had a great time gossiping and scrapping. We were working on our albums that we started in Zina's class at Creative Edge a month ago. I hadn't even touched it since the class, so it was a real accomplishment to make some progress with it. Hopefully I can finish it off this week. It's looking fab already. I'll post it when I've finished.
Nothing much planned for the weekend. Phil has to put up a picket fence. Jamie will no doubt keep my occupied. He's been a bit clingy this week. And so hungry! I was telling the girls that on Wednesday this was his lunch:
- big bowl of pork casserole
- big bowl of rockmelon
- cup of milk
- half a banana mixed with two big spoonfuls of yoghurt
- half a banana mixed with two big spoonfuls of yoghurt
- one piece of bread with butter
- half a raw apple
The kid is only 15 months old. He already eats like he's 15 years old!
OK, a few layout shares. This first one is in Scrapbooking for Beginners that's just out. My favourite shot of Phil and Jamie. Taken by Grant Walkley during a photoshoot when Jamie was just six weeks old.

This next one is my layout for Scrapbook Station's portal this month. The theme is circles. Go check them out - there's so much inspiration! I created this on a pizza board background. Stripped it all back to the corrugated cardboard and painted it. It's probably not very archival-safe, but oh well. I like it.

Journaling:
Falls Creek 1991. Look at him. I'd like to say that I made him myself, but I have to confess that I found him there on the slopes, waiting for some friends to happen by. A baseball cap for a hat, a jacket 'round his neck for a scarf was all that was needed. Perfect!
And this last one was just for fun. Inspired by a couple of challenges that are around at the moment to use food packaging on a layout. My little Weetbix kid.

Journaling: You really do love your Weetbix for breakfast. You scoff down two every morning - that's as much as I eat! You're getting used to using your spoon but, really, fingers are just so much more efficient, aren't they? You usually end up with Weebvix all over your face, in your hair, up your arms... you get the picture! Well, the adv. says that Aussie kids are Weetbix kids; and you are!
I'm feeling really schizophrenic with my scrapping at the moment. In Jamie's albums the LOs are all brightly coloured and fun. When it comes to my own albums - you know, my BOM stuff or childhood stuff - they're all vintagey and distressed. That's my natural style, but I can't bring myself to use it for Jamie's LOs. Probably because I prefer to scrap colour photos and his photos are so full of bright colours. They really cry out for fun colourful layouts. I just wish I could have a consistent look. Or is it OK to go back and forth? I look at my snow layout above, and then the Weetbix kid one and I can't believe that I can turn out two such wildly different layouts. And yet I do. All the time. Maybe it's my Gemini nature coming through. I dunno.
I'm interested in what you think. Is it OK to vary wildly? Or should I try to stick to my vintage style? LOL, the magazines seem to prefer it.
Well, have a great weekend!

Oh wow, that's really innovative with the pizza box Kathie! This layout is awesome! The other ones are fantastic as well!!!
Well, it only stands to reason why you would want to do bright layouts for Jamie's photos. The vintage and the colourful are equally beautiful!
Kathie I think it takes talent to vary your layouts so much! And I know how nice it is to get into the mags, but really, don't let them dictate how you scrap :-)
These are all sensational - love them all!

Oh no...I had this big long comment typed out, and blogger wouldn't process it, now it's gone.
In short, You ROCK with both styles Kathie, and your *new* Jamie style is so unique and inspiring, the mags will catch on to it ONE DAY. Stuff em anyway, you keep on switching and do whatever the hell you want, WE love seeing your awesome creations so don't you dare EVER doubt what you are doing.
Kathie I'd love to be talented enough to be brilliant at two different styles. I love your newer 'Jamie style' but I have always admired your ability to do vintage (which I totally suck at LOL). Go for it, develop as many styles as you like and don't worry about the mags.
I think its because when you think of Jamie there is a feeling you get and that is the colours you use for his layouts.
They are both still you though there is a 'Kathie' stlye regardless.
Vintage or colour.
Both are brilliant.
P.S Love the weetbix layout - wait till your handsome little man is eating 7 or 8.
Where do they put it?
I have also been feeling really schizophrenic with my scrapping.
I look at some of my layouts and compare them to others and there seems to be a big difference.
But I've recently decided that it's OK and who cares as long as I like all the end results. After all we scrap for ourselves don't we. It only matters that we are enjoying our creative side and having fun.
All your creations are wonderful Kathie. Have no doubts about your talent:)
LOL @ how much Jamie is eating. I bet he is going through a growth spert. Pretty normal so don't be too concerned.
Have a great week and keep smiling:)

I have the same dilemna too Kathie, you know, I reckon each LO has it's own feel and when you start with the photo, well it leads you to all sorts of places/styles, the right ones for that LO. Don't even think about it, your LOs are all gorgeous!

Kathie are you kidding me? You can do whatever you want and you do both SO well.
Loved your layout in SB4B :)

Hi Kathie,
I haven't stopped by for a while Sorry I say go with what the photo and mood dictate if you see/feel colour with Jamie then use it.
You are in effect scrapping different personalities I guess.
Leon came running when I said "Look, K's done a LO on a pizza box!". Man, was he impressed.
I saw the LO with Phil in Scrapbooking for Beginners this morning. Look how much J's grown.
I find I'm doing two different looks for Lily and Angus (and I don't even have my own style yet). Angus's "boy" colours are full of life, clear, bright - Lily's are softer. Can't help it. I'm just trying some different things, just a sponge trying to learn. I've not tried a real vintage look though. You know I love all your work. I think your baby/jamie style is fresh and UNIQUE. It's drawn from a different part of you, but its still got that classy elegance of your older stuff.

They probably look very different to you, but I can always see something of you and your style in all your LOs.
Keep om scrapping what ever inspires you, your work is always divine. And as Mel said 'stuff' the mags! Scrap for you!
LOL about the eating thing. After saying that Isaac wasnt eating much - last night for tea he had a pack of easy mac with an egg, tuna, and crushed tomatoes throught it, then a yoghurt, then a pear, then some hot chips and a piece of bread when we went out!!! I think the long lost appetite has returned! Where do they put it all LOL.

well i love all the lo's kathie. i personally get bored doing the same thing so love mixing it up. i think you do what you feel. if it gets picked up, great! if not, at least you are happy with lo & thats all that matters.
i have photos of georgia with her weetbix here too just waiting to be scrapped. thanks for the inspiration, might actually scrap them now!
Oooh Kathie I doo love the SS LO!!!
And Im with the other girls, which ever style you do it has your wonderfuly distinctive signature to it.
DONT stop the variety!!!!
Cheers Louise :)
Ich finde die Layouts auch ganz wundervoll. Aber mir geht es auch oft so, daß ich oft unsicher bin.
