- heavy heavy downpours and grey skies

- grocery shopping - with my little octopus helper - he's getting better but still isn't really much help; I really need to work on my peripheral vision to be able to keep up with him, lol

- dancing around in the kitchen and playing musical instruments to the music playing on the radio

- reading "We're going on a Bear Hunt" about seven times... in a row; then Daddy got the pleasure of reading it several times when he came home from work; then I read it again just before bed

- pushing Thomas the Tank Engine around the carpet, going "toot toot" complete with hand actions

- "Row Row Row your Boat" and big loud screams to the Crocodile part (of course, it's our favourite part)

- David Attenborough on the TV before Jamie's bedtime, watching about echidnas and platypus; Jamie crying out for "more! more!" whenever an advertisement interrupted the program

Love my days home with the little guy!

Patterned Paper Backgrounds

Our theme on the DT at Shop and Crop this week was to use patterned paper as our backgrounds (no cardstock).

I often use patterned paper for my background. In fact, these days when I use cardstock, I find the layout looks a little bit "bare".

For the first layout I've used a subtle paper for the background. If you're not used to using patterns in your background go for a subdued pattern like the blue paper here from the MME Garden Party range.

It's been quite sunny here, so Jamie and I have been eating our lunch "picnic" style on a rug on the back lawn and then investigating the shrubbery. He loves hunting for colourful flowers in the trees, bushes and (dare I say it) soursobs .

Loved the paper I chose for the background on the next one - it's so happy and bright plus I'm having a "thing" with vintage red at the moment.

Journaling: "OK" says Mum on Christmas Day. "Kathie, Phil, over there. I want a photo of the three of you". Afterwards I took a look. Oh my Goodness. Look at us. What a shambles! Not one single photo where we're all smiling! Was it really too much to expect Just One good shot?

Because it's quite busy, I've created some visual space around my photos by using a plain paper - in this case my ol' favourite Jenni Bowlin's Vintage Drawing Paper (love love love it!).

LOL. Love these photos. They reflect what an active little unit we are. We never sit still.

Been playin'...

Scrapware has some beautiful new product they are releasing. I received my package late last week and almost couldn't decide what to use. Heaven!

Anyway, here's what I ended up making. This first layout is a challenge I set myself. I've gotten arty! Texture paste, paint, ink, glitter, rhinestones, sequins, muslin, lace, dimensional magic. Lots and lots of playing. Loved it!

Scrapware tree, fence, frame, date block, alphas.

The next layout is the chance for me to reminisce about our old home. The renovations on our new place (we've almost been here a year) have been going really slowly. It's difficult now that we have a two year old underfoot.

I deliberately went for a tailored feel. Blanket stitch up the top (lovin' that atm).

Scrapware alphas and circles. The circles come in a 12x12 sheet and are wonderful. I've cut mine up to use here.

Back tomorrow with Shop and Crop goodness!

Scrapbooking Memories 10(1)

I had a few layouts in Scrapbooking Memories a couple of months ago. Here they are:

My Music
Journaling: Well, there you have it - my favourite song each year since I was ten. That's thirty years of music. It's a mixed bag, isn't it! From pop to rock and roll; disco, country, dance music, alternative. Totally mixed up. Eclectic. But, hey that's me! After all, I *am* a Gemini.

I Wish...
Journaling: I wish ... that you didn't live so far away... that we could have tea with each other's families on a Saturday night... that our children would grow up together... that we talked more.

Letting Go
Journaling: Your first slide down the slippery-dip without my help. You took a big breath, let go and down you went. All by yourself. And of course then you had to do it again and again and again ... And I couldn't help think that it was as much about me letting go as it was about you!

Back soon with more to share. I had two boxes of product turn up in the mail last week, so I've been busy creating :)

Scrapbook Trends Mini Album Idea Book

I forgot to upload the mini album that was in April's Scrapbook Trends (USA) Mini Album Idea Book. I used a little mini file folder album to create this small album that records the story of the day Jamie was born. It's more of a journal that your typical scrapbook album, I suppose.

I just put instructions for how to decorate the cover of this mini album up on the Scapware blog. Every week the DT will be posting instructions for using some of the Scrapware goodies. Go check it out!

Poppets and weddings

Oh how I enjoyed this week's DT theme at Shop and Crop :). Poppets! You can imagine the merriment and hair pulling that was going on amongst the DT girls behind the scenes! I love a bit of paper piecing though, and I sooo love Fancy Pants, so I was really in my element. Here are my two layouts:

Milly Molly Mandy Make Believe
Journaling: The Milly Molly Mandy series were a favourite when I was little. The quaint village lifestyle, the whitewashed cottages; oh how I wished I could visit.

Birthday Wishes.
Journaling: Birthdays are all about the candles for you. The candles and blowing the candles out. As many times as you are allowed.

All eight members of the DT have contributed to this week's gallery so make sure to drop on over and check out the layouts.

And while you're there, have a look at the DT Challenge Gallery too. Our challenge from the forum members was to scrap wedding photos. And we did. Oh how we did!

That's all for today. Hope your day is wonderful.

Just found this...

Blogger Play

I discovered some visitors to my blog from this address recently and went to investigate. It's fascinating! It's a slideshow of photos recently put up to blogs. If you click the "show info" button on the bottom RHS of the screen, it'll give you an idea of the blog the image comes from.
How cool!

Happy Monday people. Hope you're all well.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I had a great day. We hung out down south at a food and wine fair and listened to a band for the afternoon. Apparently a couple of hours after we came home it all broke into fights, so we were glad we had left early and come home (so J could have a nap). Mum and Dad came back from Perth in the evening and they and some friends came over for pizza and birthday cake. With candles of course ;). Jamie had a wonderful time helping me to open parcels. All in all it was a wonderful day.

Shop and Crop Dt Gallery is up!

This week the Shop and Crop DT had an open theme - we could scrap whatever took our fancy. Well, I decided (especially after seeing the MM Noteworthy II papers I got to play with) that I'd use the opportunity to do some pages about life, right now, for my Book About Me.

Journaling: visiting with friends... sitting in the back of our house listening to birdsong and the sound of a quiet house while Jamie naps... thankful that Phil's medical tests reveal no serious illness... a few days away from turning 43... hoping like crazy I can have another baby... loving being Jamie's mama and our weekly routine of playgroup, playdates and the park... wishing we were with mum and dad visiting Sonia in Perth at the moment; I'm missing them all... we need to go on a holiday too, it's been a while... wishing I had more friends in this neighbourhood... loving Wednesday playgroup for that contact with other mums... loving my peaceful, happy, family life...

Journaling is just more musings about what's happening right now in my world:
"Cool mornings, weak sunshine, bare trees and winter blossoms. Cosy up, because Winter's on its way."
I have no idea how the title relates to any of that lol, but that was the word that popped into my head as I was creating the layout and sometimes, well, sometimes ya just gotta go with the flow :).

Happy Friday! It's a long weekend here this weekend. Yipppy!
