I've put a few more things up for sale on ebay. Here's a look at some of the new items, if you know anyone who might be interested.

Christmas Mini-Album

Mixed collection

Scrapware Chipboard Overalls

Check my stuff here.

I'm happy to combine postage, to minimise the cost.

Let them Talk

One of my all-time favourite layouts is in this month's issue of Creating Keepsakes (Australia).

Journaling: You talk constantly these days, providing a running commentary to our days. Sadly, much of it really difficult to understand. Last week you were diagnosed with a sever speech disorder. You have all your sounds mixed up. You try so hard to be understood and sometimes it fair breaks my heart to see your mouth twisting as you try so hard to create your sounds. Please don't get frustrated - we'll get there little boy. Keep talking to me - I adore our conversations.

Instructions for making the layout are here.

It's interesting, reading through this layout now, some nine months later. It still brings tears to my eyes, at how Jamie used to struggle to be understood. Thankfully, all his hard work this year has paid off and these days we understand 99% of what he says. Whew!

Those of you who know me, know that I don't have a scrapping "space". I scrap on the kitchen table. I also have very little room for scrapbooking stash. This past year my product collection seems to have exploded, and is starting to encroach on the rest of our living space. I'll never in a million years use all the product I have.

So, I've decided to list some of it as kits for sale on Ebay.

Some of the stuff that's available includes:

Making Memories Fa La La scrapbook kit

Heidi Grace Orchard Scrapbook Kit

Scribble Scrabble/Pink Paislee collection

Mixed collection

Most of the stuff is brand new - never opened. Some of it is a little pre-loved, for instance a couple of embellishments from the set might be missing. All product is in as-new condition.

I'll be progressively adding to the items up for sale over the next week or so. I kid you not - I have a LOT of stuff. Mini albums, Xyron products, packs of major manufacturer embellishments. Keep a watch if you're after product.

Check it out here.

It's raining cats and dogs here today. Shiver.
Hope you're having a good weekend.

A big weekend

We had a huge weekend of celebrations in honour of Jamie turning four. On Saturday afternoon he had eight friends over for a party in the backyard, complete with Starwars theme and a Starwars birthday cake. We also had friends for tea on Saturday night and more friends here for Sunday lunch. So it was a busy, fun weekend.

Lots of this:

And lots of these:

Loads of laughter and playing with other children:

And, of course, some of this:

I can't believe I have a four year old!

A great compliment

Thanks for your wonderful comments on my cards in yesterday's post. Yes, some of my close friends who will appreciate homemade cards will be getting those this year :)

And a comment by Erica (thanks so much Erica!) reminded me of my husband's response to those cards. Those of you who know us, will know that my husband is quietly proud that his wife receives recognition for her hobby, but he's not really interested in it. I rarely show him my projects and he rarely asks. I suspect that it might be that way in a lot of households?

Anyway, these little cards were sitting up on top of our meat-safe, while the glitter was drying. And Phil came home from work and spied them. "Wow", he exclaimed. "Who sent the Christmas cards?" "No-one", I said "I made them". "You made them?" he said with raised eyebrows. "Oh, I thought they were fancy store bought ones. They look just like it. They're nice."

Isn't that a huge compliment? I was quite chuffed :D

Jamie has been sick again. Phil and I have been up with him the last two nights. I'm hopeful that tonight we might get a decent night's sleep. At the moment, the dog's fretting because we're in a for a storm. You should see the lightening at the moment. Spectacular! It's bringing a cool change with it, and I'm thankful for that. I'm quite tired of this 40 degree heat that we've been having. Yay to spring weather I say.

Christmas cards

The Aussie Scrap Source blog will be sharing Christmas projects with you every day for the next few weeks. So if you are in need of some Christmas inspiration, go and have a look.

I have some cards up there today, featuring the BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses line:

The chipboard pieces that are part of the range make hand-made Christmas cards a cinch! I loved the little eskimo children, houses, and Christmas trees :).

I've used white cardstock and patterned paper to create cute little backgrounds, then added heaps of glitter, some rhinestones and hand-sketched detailing.

It's going to be 43 degrees here tomorrow. Again! This hot weather is baking us all very very slowly. We've had two weeks of it now, with only a couple of days under 35 degrees for respite. What are we in for when Summer finally arrives, I wonder!

Happy fourth birthday!

Four years ago I was lying on a nasty hard bed in a labour ward, wondering if I would get any sleep that night. I lay there, wondering what the morning would bring. I was to give birth to my baby boy. Our little miracle, who I loved more than I believed possible. Already. I had not even laid eyes on him. Fifteen hours later he was born.

Happy birthday Rabbit!!

I love you more than all the leaves... on all the trees... in the biggest, biggest forest.... where? well, I don't know where..., in Brazil...., what? a bear? yes, maybe the forest will have a bear...., what? will it chase us? no, we'll make lots of noise and take sticks to knock the bushes with so that the bear doesn't chase us......, and yes?, ok, then we'll run home to our house where we are all safe!

(Somehow the story has grown with the telling over the last four years... )

Road trips, pirates and icecreams

I had three layouts in Scrapbooking Memories Vol 11 No 8, which I can now share. The first is one of my favourite layouts, even still:

Journaling: This is what happens when I take your photo. I barely have time to squeeze the shutter button before you're there in front of me, demanding to see.

Driving Companion
You sit facing forward in the car now. You look so cute, hand on one knee, the other hand resting on the arm-rest, like you're in an easychair. You've been discovering more of the world as we drive around town. I feel like I have a driving companion now because you talk to me from the backseat. "Err" "Err". When I turn to look at you, you're looking at me with a big smile on your face. "Oooh!" you say, and your arm reaches out, your hand pointing to the big truck in the lane next to us. Or the bus - yes, buses seem to be your favourite. For now.

This layout is an old one, and considering that when the papers turned up in my letterbox (yes, stuffed in my letterbox) they were almost too crumpled and damaged to do anything with, I am quite pleased with how it turned out!

He Loves Icecream
Photo taken on our holiday to the Gold Coast last year.

The last layout was the Masters' Challenge for this issue of the magazine. We were each given a punch to work with, and some patterned papers and embellishments. The punch I was given was this little ice-cream punch.

The background to the layout was created in several layers: 1. torn strips of the patterned papers; 2. coat of acrylic paint; 3. embellishments, epoxy border strips, torn strips of paper, transparent overlay strips; 4. lace and fabric.

I've backed the punched out shapes onto chipboard, and topped them with some of the epoxy spots that just happened to come with the product we were supplied. Just like sprinkles!

Ah, I could do with an ice-cream right about now! See ya!

OK, now I'm passing on the award to my three southaussie mates who are also on the Aussie Scrap Source design team, and two of my fellow masters:

Janine (mama to five, including a newborn and the most organised woman I know)
Steph (check out her tutorial on her blog)
Louise (quirky, arty fun)
Lynette (love the way this girl writes - she cracks me up with every post)
Celeste (for a dose of gorgeous warm girly fun)

Have a great weekend. I'm taking Jamie swimming tomorrow and then we're hibernating inside by the airconditioner for the rest of the weekend :)

Top and Tail

Back in January I wrote that we were having the hottest stretch of weather in over a century. Well, we started the year with a bang, and it looks like we're finishing it in the same way. This is from today's AdelaideNow (edited to add Fahrenheit temps):

IT'S now official - Adelaide has registered its first-ever November heatwave.

The Bureau of Meteorology said the heatwave was confirmed this morning when the temperature topped 35C (95F) for the fifth day in a row.

The temperature is forecast to reach 39C (102.2F) later in the day, with similar temperatures tipped until Sunday.

Adelaide has never before had five days or more above 35C (95F) - the technical definition of a heatwave - in November.

Before now, the longest hot streak for the month was four days in 1894.

The first ever heatwave in November. Ever!!!! We are slowly boiling down here. And it's set to continue with the mercury predicted to be above 100F through until Sunday. It's not even Summer yet.

Anyway, today I am at work. With stockings on, and a jacket. ;) It's always like a fridge in here. Jamie has hives all over his body, poor chook - an allergic reaction to something. I've told childcare to keep him inside today as going out in the heat is going to turn him into Mr Spotty and Mr Scratchy, and possibly Mr Grumpy.

I hope you are cool. For all my overseas visitors who are heading into Winter, I have one question... can we come visit?

What we do on a hot day

It's going to be between 37-40 degrees celsius all this week, and it's not even summer yet! So, what to do when it's so hot outside and you just want to stay indoors by the airconditioner?

Fill up the sinks with ice-cold water - colour each side with different food colouring - grab a handful of colourful plastic bowls, sieves and whisks - and you're set!

An hour of fun at least.

And wet clothes and a wet floor are a small price to pay - especially when I was going to clean the floor later anyhow :)

Stay cool!

I am the guest designer for Pencil Lines this week!

Contributing to this gallery has long been a dream of mine, I love the work that the other girls do with each week's sketch. So, I was so delighted to get an email from Anna, inviting me to contribute. The sketch she sent me was so fab too:

And here's my layout:

JML - The Cutest Tigger
Journaling: Ah, you were the cutest little baby. I smile when I look at this photo of you dressed up like Tigger. Of course, you're still a cutie, but these days it's all about Starwars and Ben10 and every now and then I get a bit wistful for those ol' baby days.

Pop over here and check out all the other inspirational creations :)

Well, I'm sitting inside by the airconditioner. It's going to be 37 today, 37 tomorrow, 39 Wednesday and 39 Thursday. No cool change until Sunday they're saying. It's Springtime!? What's happened to balmy days in the mid twenties?

I hope you enjoy your day!

Published pages

I had two pages in Creating Keepsakes Aussie Reader gallery recently that I thought I'd share with you.

Zoo Book
“Dear Zoo” is his favourite book. We read it, oh, 20 times a day... Because I want to encourage his love for books... Because I want to foster his love of animals... but to be honest, really Because sometimes, just sometimes, he still agrees to sit in my lap just like he did when he was little...

Digging in the Sand
You look so cute in these shots of your first trip to the beach. In your little overalls and sunhat you are the perfect beachcomber baby searching for treasure in the sand.

Class layouts

Here are the two layouts that I've been teaching this last month at Seriously Scrapbooking. Thanks to all the women who signed up to my classes, I had fun, and I hope you did too!

Life is so Fun
Little boy, you have the sweetest, sunniest temperament. You're such a happy boy and I often hear you singing or humming away to yourself. You have the funniest sense of humour and a streak of pure mischief. You really are such a blessing. Love you!

My Life
You love to help out in the garden. You fill your watering can, and carefully water all the pot plants. You're such a great helper.

We had a wonderful day today. Coffee and playdate with another little girl the same age as Jamie this morning, and this afternoon a friend came to visit with her six month old girl. Jamie adores this baby. He has been badgering me for a while now to invite her to our house to play. So we had a fabulous day playing and chatting and drinking coffee :). My kinda day!

Hope your day was a lovely one.

A song for you

We wanted to share a little song with you today. You will need to lie on your side for this - I forgot that I can't re-orientate the movies from my camera. Oops.

There was a crocodile, an orangatan, a flying eagle and a silver fox; a rabbit, a beaver and a crazy elephant; na na na na na na....

Excuse my husky voice in the background. I have yet another cold. And on that note, I'm off to make myself a nice lemon and honey drink :). I hope you have a good week.

Halloween photos

Late yesterday morning we accepted an impromptu invitation to a street halloween party. While I was working teaching a class at the LSS yesterday afternoon, Phil scoured the shops for same last minute Halloween paraphanalia, and when I got home we trecked south. What fun it was! Here are some photos!

Jamie with his skeleton claw and hat

Wooooo hoooooo! A skeleton! Check out the paint job.

Best friend and her cute nephew, Hunter who was dressed as Count Dracula :)

Inspecting the candy bucket

Thanks for your support on my post yesterday, it means the world.
